Teacher Appreciation Week is May 8 – May 12.

Did you know that research shows that students can lose 2-3 months worth of
reading growth over the summer? We know our students love a challenge and we
have one in store for them this summer! Flora Ridge Elementary will be competing
in the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge. Please plan on attending the
Scholastic Literacy Night on Tuesday, May 14 to get all the details and win prizes!

As you may know, Florida is one of 45 states across our nation implementing
Common Core Standards. What are Common Core Standards? They are standards
designed to ensure that students graduating from high school are prepared for
college. The Osceola School District is hosting three Common Core Parent Nights
for parents and students throughout the district to give you an opportunity to
learn more about the new standards. You may choose from the three options below:

May 6-Ross Jeffries Education Center, 1200 Vermont Ave, St. Cloud 6:00-7:30 pm
May 14-Denn John Middle School, 2001 Denn John Lane, Kissimmee 6:00-7:30 pm
May 30-Poinciana High School, 2300 South Poinciana Blvd, Kissimmee 6:00-7:30 pm
